I am Steven Lai, a senior software engineer focused on .NET backend development.
I have worked in software development since 2010 and have more than 14 years of experience in application development and maintenance. My work has included requirements analysis, system design, feature development, database work, testing, deployment, maintenance, production troubleshooting, legacy-system modernization, API design, query optimization, and automated testing.
My recent work primarily uses C#, .NET 6.0, ASP.NET Core MVC, ASP.NET Core Web API, EF Core, MySQL, JavaScript, and jQuery. I have also used Dapper, Entity Framework 6, Vue.js, Redis, Azure DevOps, Azure Pipelines, Docker, Swagger, ReDoc, Postman, MSTest, xUnit, and k6 in production projects.
In my personal lab, I work with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, Harbor, Gateway API, HTTPRoute, cert-manager, GitOps, and CI/CD. These activities are presented separately from production experience.
For selected production features, I use Codex and Claude Code as part of the development workflow. All changes are reviewed manually and verified with unit tests, integration tests, and manual validation before they are committed.
